Ole Miss in Need of More Attraction

Over the years, Oxford, Mississippi has been known to one attraction: the square. In reality, most of the students will agree that there is nothing else to do in this college town than party. During a hunt to find what other attractions could be added to the town as entertainment, surprisingly, the biggest request was- a zoo.

Taylor Parker Savoie, a sophomore student said, “If there was a big zoo in oxford, it would attract more people and give us something to do, other than drink.”

Not only is Oxford known as a college town, but there are many families with children that in need of more places to take their children. Local parent, Mrs. Linda Packer said, “my kids love the Memphis Zoo and I would love to see this wonderful town grow.”

This month on October 18, we decided to take a trip to the Memphis zoo to see just what all the up-“roar” was about. There were lions, bears, monkeys, and seals. You name it and that animal was there.

“The six hours that usually is spent drinking.. turned into six hours of good ole’ fun and education,” said sophomore student, Andrew Guest.

Therefore, even though the town may not be filled with cash to support an attraction like this, it needs to be filled with more anything, but bars. Even though, from 6-12p.m the square may look like a zoo full of wild and intoxicated students. It is time to add something bold and believe the town should take a vote.
